2.5‑inch hot‑dipped galvanized common iron nails
1. Materials
Low‑carbon steel wire (Q195 / Q235 mild steel), also called common iron. It is soft carbon steel with good ductility, easy for wire‑drawing, heading and nail pointing.
2. Nail diameter
2.5‑inch common nail (length: 63.5 mm).
Standard wire gauge for 2.5” common nail: 3.76 mm (9‑gauge)；alternative commercial sizes: 3.40 mm‑3.80 mm according to different factory standards.
Note：2.5 inch = 63.5 mm (nail shank length, excluding the head).
3. Features
- Straight smooth shank, flat round head, sharp diamond point.
- Good toughness, not easy to bend under normal nailing force.
- Hot‑dip galvanized layer provides better rust resistance than electro‑galvanized.
- Economical, easy to drive into wood, widely used general‑purpose fastener.
4. Surface treatment
Hot‑dipped galvanized (HDG)
Process: finished nails are immersed in molten zinc. The zinc coating is thicker, strong adhesion, excellent anti‑corrosion & anti‑rust performance, suitable for humid and outdoor environments.
Distinction: different from electro‑galvanized (thin zinc layer, for indoor only).
5. Export packing
1. Small inner pack: 25 kg / carton; or 1 kg / 5 lb small paper box / plastic bag.
2. Outer packing: cartons then on wooden pallets (fumigated / heat‑treated pallets for export, meet phytosanitary requirements).
3. Common specification: 25kg per carton, 48 cartons per pallet (1200kg per pallet); or packed in gunny bags.
Marking: mark product name, size, weight, quantity, MADE IN CHINA on cartons & pallets.
6. Applications
